Hello, everyone. My name is Erendira, and this is how amazing having Lesley as my Midwife has been. It all started in 2012/2013 when I was pregnant with my first daughter. My husband Jeffrey was looking for a Midwife. We met Lesley for the first time, and it was great. Since that day, we connected and hit it off. I was unsure if she would be available, but thank goodness she was. The critical part of finding your Midwife is connecting with the four of you (mom, dad, baby, and the Midwife). So when the day finally came to give birth to my first baby, the anticipation was high - with my German Shepherd Schatzie and my husband pacing back and forth and me having contractions, Lesley’s arrival blanketed the situation and calmed everyone down. After that, my husband and I added three more little ones, making it four, with Lesley being part of our pack and forever in our lives. Lesley is the BEST!!!

Lesley was a wonderful midwife! We had an amazing experience for our first home birth. Lesley was calm and confident throughout the entire process - from prenatal visits to our daughter's birth. This helped us feel comfortable and trust that everything would work out perfectly. We enjoyed our visits with Lesley so much that after my daughter was born, my husband and I missed our prenatal appointments with Lesley. I can go on for ages about how amazing our home water birth experience was supported by Lesley. From the moment my partner and I met her, we knew we would have the birth we wanted for our baby. I had lost my mother during my pregnancy, and Lesley was beyond caring and attentive during that awful period of time. She made sure the health of me and my baby remained a priority while I was grieving. Her attention to detail - blood work, testing, and all the pre and post natal visits- were top notch. Her home office was warm and welcoming. When it came time for Baby to join us, Lesley was at our home in no time and leading the way. She was encouraging my partner to be by my side and they both supported me through the birth process. It was seamless.

We found Lesley after serendipitously discovering her business card in a holistic pregnancy book. We knew she’d be perfect to take birthing classes with, and so we did. She ended up not only assisting all three of our daughters’ births as the PERFECT support, but becoming a lifelong wonderful friend. Every one of my pregnancies had all of the support that we could ever ask for- we felt safe, comfortable, and confident because of the guidance Lesley provided. We learned things we wouldn’t have known otherwise. All of our births were beautiful and went smoothly, and we couldn’t have, nor wanted to do it without Lesley by our side.

40 plus hours in labor as a first time mom and Lesley stood by my side with patience, love, and care. Monitoring my baby every step of the way. She guided me and supported me through labor. Later-with my baby’s first fever, she suggested remedies that helped comfort him. My second child was a premature baby, and the hospital wanted to give me steroids and Pitocin. I called Lesley crying and she answered right away. She calmed me down, and advised me. I put all my trust in Lesley. She’s more than a Midwife, she’s family.

I knew from the first phone call that Lesley was the midwife for me. She was so supportive and made me feel fully in control of my experience. Her confidence and calmness were so reassuring as a first time (and 2nd time) mom and helped me stay grounded through pregnancy, labor and postpartum.

As a first time expectant mother, I was very nervous about picking a midwife. I didn’t know what to be looking for. A friend told me that I would “just know” she was the right fit for me because I would feel a connection with her. Well, that didn’t sound like much advice...but then I met Lesley!
She created a relaxed and comfortable environment where it was easy to share everything with her. She didn’t pry, I just felt like telling her about everything that was on my mind. Even my usually tight lipped husband willingly shared his thoughts and feelings about our pregnancy with her.
During our prenatal visits we never felt rushed. There was always plenty of time to "chit-chat". This gave us an opportunity to talk about any fears we were having. We looked forward to these visits because we always left feeling relieved that we were able to discuss all our built up questions and concerns. She really took the time to get to know us and understand what our expectations were about our birth process. This was important so she could advocate for us and guide us, if unexpected situations did arise during labor and delivery.
Our first birth was intense, incredible, empowering and an unforgettable experience. Lesley was a huge part of the reason my birth story is something I’ll never want to forget! During labor and delivery, Lesley was an ever present calm and comforting energy while being completely unintrusive. She respected the intimate process of laboring with my doula, my husband and myself. She allowed the natural birth process to progress at its’ own pace, and we knew we could turn to her for anything at any time. This knowledge freed us up to focus on the task at hand, laboring. Everything could happen in its’ own time.
Postpartum was the same. Lesley allowed us ample time to bond with our new baby and pass the placenta. She checked our baby with the least amount of fuss, and she stayed with us until we were good and settled down. Then, she left us to rest and bond as a new family. Lesley came back the next day to continue giving the baby and me care and she was always available if we needed her for anything.
By the time we were having our third baby, with Lesley as our midwife, we were a well-balanced team. Everything went so smoothly, in fact, that my parents even joked at the end, “you guys didn’t even need a midwife!” To this I want to say, that the reason we could feel that way was BECAUSE we had such an excellent midwife as Lesley! All her dedicated prenatal care, her expert guidance, and support was the reason we were so capable of taking responsibility for our own labor and delivery. We were guided by the best!
